In June of 2021, I went for the first time on a solo bicycle journey from Switzerland toward the direction of Greece. Meeting friends in Zermatt, getting sick, recovering at a family, finding peace with my body and trying to get to Innsbruck (AU). A video made with love by Jan Lauber.

This is my experience while living with a lovely family in Slovenia. With this film, I want to show how quickly something foreign can become familiar and loveable. After feeling lost in Lastovo (Croatia) I applied to a humanitarian NGO in Šid, Serbia. For such a reason I was motivated again and cycled all across Bosnia and Herzegovina to Serbia. I've had plenty of interesting encounters along the way and I've met my old friend autumn again. It was the first time we met each other while I was cycling and sleeping outside. This time I was kind of annoyed with him. Either way, the cold, rainy days gave me a big hug and some lovely kisses on my cheek. If you want some more details: just watch the video. Actually, I expected nothing from Serbia, except that I wanted to go as fast as possible to the south, where it is hopefully a bit warmer. With beautiful encounters along the road, I’ve met Serbian hospitality. In this video, I show you two of those encounters I've had during my 10 days in Serbia. (!!! I don't know how this must feel like, I can only imagine. Why can I go everywhere I want, just because the papers of my passport look different? Why I was born in one of the richest and safest countries in this world? What have I done to get this precious privilege? Nothing. The intention behind this video is to give people a different perspective and to motivate them to expand their reality. Even though this reality isn't very pleasant.
